Woman Sexually Assaulted On East Williamsburg Street

The victim resisted, but then the attacker shoved her to the ground, according to the NYPD.
A woman was shoved to the ground and sexually assaulted on a Brooklyn sidewalk, according to police, who are hoping the public can help them find the suspect. One Williamsburg resident told WCBS 2, "First of all I thought it was a car chase or something, because I saw all of the tape. But then they told me it was that assault. You know it’s kind of scary, but I’ve never really been afraid in this area."
The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 4th, near Richard Street and Kingsland Avenue in East Williamsburg. The NYPD says that the 27-year-old victim, who had just left a bar on Richardson Street, was approached from behind by a man who "shoved her against a wall, removed her underwear and tried to sexually assault her."
The victim resisted, but police say the man knocked her to the ground and touched her genitals. He then fled east on Richardson Street in a dark colored four-door sedan, according to police, who released security camera footage of the suspect, described as wearing dark-colored clothing and work boots.
Warning: The footage also shows the suspect grabbing the victim and pushing her around as she resists.
The victim was treated by a nearby hospital after she reportedly walked a mile and a half to report the assault to the police.
WABC 7 spoke to residents who said "this is typically a quiet, safe neighborhood but pedestrian traffic has picked up in recent months because of a new nearby music venue, Brooklyn Steel."
