Woman Followed Then Nearly Raped In Williamsburg Apartment, Police Say

This happened early Sunday morning.

A woman walking home from work was nearly raped and then robbed in Brooklyn over the weekend, and police are searching a suspect.
The incident took place in Williamsburg's Southside early on Sunday, July 22nd around 4:10 a.m. The NYPD says a man followed a 30-year-old woman as she was walking near Hewes and South 3rd Streets before forcing his way into her apartment. He allegedly pushed the victim down on her couch in an attempt to rape her, but she was able to fight him off.
Police say he took $300 from the victim's wallet and then fled east on South 4th Street towards Union Avenue. The victim was taken to Woodhull Medical Center in stable condition.
Security camera footage of the suspect was released, and police describe him as being approximately 27 to 32 years of age, 6'0" and about 160 pounds with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and black hat.
