Update: Man Arrested For Allegedly Shoving Woman For Subway Seat

A 42-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly shoving a woman for a subway seat earlier this week. See update below with comment from suspect’s employer.

Gregg Brochin was charged with assault in the third degree. He turned himself in at the Midtown North Precinct with his lawyer present, a police spokesperson said.

The incident took place on Tuesday, March 26th, during the evening commute around 6:30 p.m., at the 7th Avenue-53rd Street subway station. According to the NYPD, a 27-year-old woman was on a southbound B train "when an unidentified male pushed the victim with his shoulder to obtain a seat."

The man left the train at an unknown station. The victim reportedly experienced back pain but refused medical attention at the scene.

Police released the above image of the suspect, describing him as 40-50 years old and last wearing a black coat.
