Three Babies, Two Adults Stabbed At Queens 'Maternity Center'

A 52-year-old woman is in custody after allegedly stabbing five people, including a three-day old infant, in a Flushing building this morning. The victims, three infants and two adults, are in critical but stable condition.
The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m., when police responded to a 911 call about a stabbing at 42-67 161st Street, which NYPD Assistant Chief Juanita Holmes described as possibly being a day care facility that also had living quarters. It's unclear if it was licensed.
The three-day-old girl and a one-month-old girl were both stabbed in the stomach, while a 20-day-old girl suffered lacerations to ear, chin, and lip. A male adult, who was apparently a father, was stabbed in the leg, and an adult woman was stabbed in the torso. They were all taken to area hospitals for treatment.
The suspect, who worked there, was reportedly found in the basement with a slashed wrist. Assistant Chief Holmes said two knives were recovered; WABC 7 described one as a meat cleaver.
An unnamed official told NBC New York the location is "a maternity center. Mothers would go there with their newborns and workers would help take care of the babies. It’s also a place where foreigners could have their babies here and those children would become American citizens."
