The graffiti was spotted on four other locations on Sunday, according to police: On a fence at 1876 83rd Street; outside 2028 86th Street; outside 8519 New Utrecht Avenue; and on the column of an elevated train platform at 2061 86th Street. City Council Member Mark Treyger said he saw the graffiti on even more places.
The male suspect is described last seen wearing a shirt, shorts, sneakers and a cap on his head while carrying a large bag.
The remarks were denounced by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and other officials who held a rally on Monday. Adams also announced a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. He said, "This was a pre-meditated action to identify a group and treat them in a disparaging, negative fashion — that to me says hate crime all over it, and that crime needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
