NYPD: Shots Fired As 50 Cent, 6ix9ine Film Music Video In Greenpoint

Police are searching for a suspect who fired off multiple rounds outside of a Greenpoint music video shoot, authorities said on Wednesday.

According to an NYPD spokesperson, 50 Cent and 6ix9ine were filming a video on Tuesday night near the waterfront on West Street, when an unknown gunman shot eight rounds around the corner on Noble Street. No one was hit, police said, and there are currently no suspects.

TMZ reported that, "Witnesses say someone in a white Porsche with New Jersey license plates fired at least 11 shots during filming... at around 10:30 PM. Based on the shell casings it appears the shooter use a 9 mm semi-automatic weapon."

The two New York-born rappers have been collaborating in recent months, and are reportedly working on a song called "Get the Strap." A veteran in the industry, 50 Cent has drawn scrutiny for embellishing the number of times he's been shot.

6ix9ine, meanwhile, is a 22-year-old breakout star—known alternatively as Teka$hi 6ix9ine and just Tekashi (the NYPD spokesperson, if you're wondering, used the latter designation). He is currently facing a litany of sexual misconduct allegations involving an underage girl.

TMZ also noted that Uncle Murda, and the Brooklyn rapper Casanova were on set at the time of the shooting as well. Earlier today, Casanova turned himself into the NYPD after allegedly assaulting a woman at a Chelsea diner. The outlet also reports that sources connected to Tekashi say the gunman was not targeting any of the rappers on the scene.

Police are currently investigating the shooting and looking at surveillance footage—we'll update as more information becomes available.
