The NYPD says a man approached the boy around 4 p.m. on August 29th inside the Barnes & Noble in Union Square on East 17th Street, grabbing his buttocks and groin area.
The suspect allegedly said, "I was trying to help...I’m sorry," and fled west on East 17th Street.
The boy, who was a few feet from his mother at the time, was not physically injured.
