NYPD: Man Demanding Subway Swipe Breaks Woman's Foot At L Train Station

Police say the same person has been robbing subway riders along the L line—and, in one instance, broke a victim's foot.

The first incident took place on April 13th, around 10:40 a.m., inside the Myrtle/Wyckoff station. According to the NYPD, the man "asked the 25-year-old female victim to 'swipe him' into the station. The victim refused and entered the subway system through the turnstiles. As she walked down the stairs to the platform the individual approached her from behind, shoved her down to the floor, and grabbed her purse."

The man fled with the victim's purse, which reportedly had $250 in cash and a debit card. The woman was taken to Wyckoff Hospital where she was treated for a fractured left foot.

Then, on April 19th, around 9 a.m., inside the Halsey Street station, the suspect "snatched the 55-year-old female victim's purse from her arm and ran off the train," police say.

The man fled north on Covert Street with the victim's purse, which had $15 in cash and 4 credit cards. The victim suffered pain to her right arm.

The NYPD released footage of the suspect, who is described as 20-30 years old and was last seen wearing a black and white bucket hat, a black jacket, black pants and black sneakers.
