NYPD: After Asking For A Light, Suspect Sexually Assaulted Woman In Prospect Heights Building

She managed to fight him off, police say.

A woman was followed into her Brooklyn apartment building on Sunday night and sexually assaulted, according to the police, who are now searching for a suspect.
The incident took place around 11:45 p.m. on April 21st, when a 27-year-old woman arrived at her building near Underhill Avenue and St. John's Place in Prospect Heights. Police say a man standing in front of the building asked her for a light; she complied and then entered the building, only for the man to follow her in and push her to the floor, sexually assaulting her in the hallway.
The woman was able to fight him off, and the suspect fled. She was treated by EMS at the scene.
PIX 11 reports that the man claimed his girlfriend lived in the building.
Police released surveillance footage of the suspect, describing him as 5'7" and 175-200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded shirt, Adidas track pants and black sneakers.
