Expect delays.

In a not-so-surprising twist to an already annoying snow day commute, the MTA says a "temporary Con Ed power failure" between Roosevelt Avenue and 71st Avenue in Queens caused "extensive delays" along the E, F, M, and R lines this morning. It's unclear what caused the power failure, but it knocked out service along multiple subway lines around 6:45 a.m. An MTA spokesperson said the power was out for about an hour.

Of course, this morning's problems were not limited to just those four unlucky lines. A signal problem near the 7th Avenue B/D stop in Manhattan also caused delays on those subway lines.

And there are further delays on the F, B, and D lines as of 9:22 a.m., due to a person struck by a train at Herald Square:

The MTA's snow storm preparations are causing delays on the 6 line, as the MTA "cleared trains that were stored underground, on the express tracks because of the snow." As of 9:12 a.m., the MTA was warning customers about "longer-than-expected waits for Pelham Bay Park-bound 6 trains in upper Manhattan and the Bronx."

The C train was apparently dicey too:

And there were problems on the southbound 1 line because of a train with a malfunctioning door being taken out of service at 72nd Street, where the subway platform was perilously overcrowded:

And melting snow means there are new subway cenotes to contend with...

Bring your snorkel and be careful out there.
