Gunman On Bicycle Fatally Shoots Uber Passenger In Bed-Stuy

The man was in the backseat when he was reportedly approached by a gunman on a bicycle.

A man was fatally shot in the backseat of an Uber in Bed-Stuy on Tuesday night, according to the NYPD.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., a 26-year-old-man was sitting in a car in front of 1047 Bedford Avenue, near Greene Avenue, when he was reportedly approached by someone on a bicycle, who opened the back door of the car.

According to NBC News, the two talked back and forth before the man on the bicycle opened fire, hitting the passenger in the neck and chest. He then sped away.

The shooter's motive is not currently known. "We are shocked and saddened by this terrible incident," Uber said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the rider’s family and everyone affected during this difficult time. We will work with police to assist with their investigation.”

EMS rushed the victim to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The NYPD is currently investigating.
