Garbage Fire On F Train Tracks Snarls Friday Morning Commute

The F also made this messy on the A and C lines.

Commuters along the F line had a hell of a time getting to work this morning due to a fire that broke out between two lower Manhattan stations.

Stuck on the #Ftrain at East Brodway due to a fire/smoke condition at 2nd Ave station. Conductor just informed passengers that the fire Dept just put out the fire. No breaks, not even on a Friday.

@A_W_Gordon @SignalProblems The smell of rubber burning in the train tracks. Everyone clenching their noses to avoid the odor. Not to mention the 2nd Ave off the F train is completely smothered in smoke.

Debris caught fire on the tracks just north of the 2nd Avenue station around 8:40 a.m., according to the MTA. The FDNY had the fire under control by 9:26 a.m. During this time the F was rerouted to the 8th Avenue A/C line between Jay Street and West 4th; delays and service changes remain in effect.

F Train sits there at Bergen, then goes on the G Line. So now we’re trying to get on a packed A, which is just sitting there at Hoyt. Same shit, different station.

So far: I’ve been waiting in a tunnel to try to get to Broadway Junction longer than I’ve been on the train while it’s moving. F is also going over the A line bc of a “smoke condition” and people are still getting sick on the L @NYCTSubway

F train service is severely delayed and running over the G and A,C&E lines due to smoke at 2nd Avenue. But don’t worry, the L is not being shut down. A real win for the little guys.
