Garbage Fire On F Train Tracks Snarls Friday Morning Commute
Feb. 8, 2019, 10:50 a.m.
The F also made this messy on the A and C lines.

The northbound F platform at the Delancey Essex station
Commuters along the F line had a hell of a time getting to work this morning due to a fire that broke out between two lower Manhattan stations.
Me: Oh I’m 15 minutes early, I can grab breakfast before work@MTA: you fucking thought, I feel like re-routing F trains on the A tracks @ 8:30AM

I’m sorry, your F train is not leaving east broadway anytime soon. #commute #mtatweets #ftrain

Very cool that the F line is literally on fire right now and we all had to get off the train.

Stuck on the #Ftrain at East Brodway due to a fire/smoke condition at 2nd Ave station. Conductor just informed passengers that the fire Dept just put out the fire. No breaks, not even on a Friday.

@A_W_Gordon @SignalProblems The smell of rubber burning in the train tracks. Everyone clenching their noses to avoid the odor. Not to mention the 2nd Ave off the F train is completely smothered in smoke.

Debris caught fire on the tracks just north of the 2nd Avenue station around 8:40 a.m., according to the MTA. The FDNY had the fire under control by 9:26 a.m. During this time the F was rerouted to the 8th Avenue A/C line between Jay Street and West 4th; delays and service changes remain in effect.
Also, F train service has been rerouted to the A/C line right now.^TS

Our F train opened at station and closed and we got out. I’m safe. Just want to make sure others are ok. It was pretty scary down there

F Train sits there at Bergen, then goes on the G Line. So now we’re trying to get on a packed A, which is just sitting there at Hoyt. Same shit, different station.

Jesus. Thank you! I knew there was something up on the F that was impacting the A/C but the train operator never mentioned anything about the problem you just mentioned.

@NYCTSubway Thanks for the panic attack this morning while being stuck for 40 mins in a crowded F train in tunnel just east of 63/Lex. Next time tell people to take E. Morons.

So far: I’ve been waiting in a tunnel to try to get to Broadway Junction longer than I’ve been on the train while it’s moving. F is also going over the A line bc of a “smoke condition” and people are still getting sick on the L @NYCTSubway

No F trains. Walked to 6. It just passed the 4 I will need to transfer to to connect with the A. All of this and a the L train fuel smell. Great morning courtesy of @MTA and @NYCTSubway

F train service is severely delayed and running over the G and A,C&E lines due to smoke at 2nd Avenue. But don’t worry, the L is not being shut down. A real win for the little guys.

Hi @MTA the A train already doesn’t run as it should on a normal day, this whole “loud noise” businesses & “re-routing the F train” makes this a completely useless train line

Happy Friday! The hits keep coming:
There are service changes and delays in Jamaica-bound F train service because of a train with mechanical problems at East Broadway.
There is no Jamaica-bound F train service at York St, East Broadway, and 2 Av. There is reduced Jamaica-bound F train service in Manhattan. (1/3)— NYCT Subway (@NYCTSubway) February 8, 2019
Expect delays in A, C, F and G train service. (3/3)
