Garbage Fire On F Train Tracks Snarls Friday Morning Commute

Commuters along the F line had a hell of a time getting to work this morning due to a fire that broke out between two lower Manhattan stations.

Debris caught fire on the tracks just north of the 2nd Avenue station around 8:40 a.m., according to the MTA. The FDNY had the fire under control by 9:26 a.m. During this time the F was rerouted to the 8th Avenue A/C line between Jay Street and West 4th; delays and service changes remain in effect.
