An Astoria woman says a man has been repeatedly peering through her bedroom window and masturbating, and the NYPD officers to whom she turned to help did not seem to care. Now she's taking it upon herself to try and identify the perv.

Liliana G., who asked that we withhold her last name, contacted Gothamist in hopes that someone will recognize the peeping tom. She says she first noticed the man last Saturday, when he began coming to her ground floor bedroom window around 11:30 p.m. "I heard him masturbating, but I didn't see it," she said.

She's seen him outside her window two more nights since, between 11 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. She described the man as around 5'9'' with a tattoo on his arm and wearing cargo shorts.

After Liliana's building superintendent showed her security camera video of the man, she called the police yesterday. She said four officers came to speak with her, two of whom were in training. But according to Liliana, they declined to so much as look at the video evidence, and they did not give her any way of contacting them directly.

"In the whole conversation, they didn't write anything down," Liliana said. When she asked them to come back at 11 p.m. to try and catch the man, she was told they had too much to do, and that she should just call 911 when the man appeared again. "I have insomnia," Liliana said.

On Thursday, Liliana intends to post pictures of the man around Astoria in hopes that someone can identify him.

We asked the NYPD if the officers who responded to Liliana's complaint followed protocol, and we'll update if we hear back.
