She performed Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Own Me."
Cate Blanchett turned up at the Stonewall Inn last night to lip sync Dusty Springfield's "You Don't Own Me." And she owned it. Blanchett's performance was part of a benefit for Sandy Hook, and specifically the Newtown Action Alliance. And yes, this is the real Cate Blanchett, not someone doing drag as Cate Blanchett.
Performers included other cast members from the Broadway production Blanchett is currently starring in, "The Present," along with Jason Hayes/Margeaux Powell, organizer of the event and founder of the LGBTQ equal rights and gun violence prevention group Disarm Hate; transgender activist Candis Cox; Aurora Sexton, Miss Gay USofA; Vancie Vega; Brenda Dharling and Zola Powell, and more.
