Video: Stephen Colbert Overjoyed That Trump Called Him A 'No-Talent Guy'

During a rambling interview with Time Magazine this week, President Donald Trump made some remarks regarding "no-talent guy" Stephen Colbert, whom the President does not find amusing. Here's the full excerpt:

You see a no-talent guy like Colbert. There's nothing funny about what he says. And what he says is filthy. And you have kids watching. And it only builds up my base. It only helps me, people like him. The guy was dying. By the way they were going to take him off television, then he started attacking me and he started doing better. But his show was dying. I’ve done his show. … But when I did his show, which by the way was very highly rated. It was high—highest rating. The highest rating he's ever had.

As you might imagine, Colbert was shaken to his core by this: "The president of the United States has personally come after me and my show. And there’s only one thing to say: Yay! I won!"

"Mr. Trump, there's a lot you don't understand, but I never thought one of those things would be show business," he said. "Don't you know I've been trying for a year to get you to say my name? And you were very restrained, admirably restrained, but not you did it. 'Oh no! Oh please, don't make me trend on Twitter again! Don't throw me in that #Briarpatch.'"

Colbert went on to admit that he does occasionally use adult language in public "instead of in the privacy of an Access Hollywood bus," and acknowledged Trump's highly-related appearance on the show (though Jeb Bush's episode was apparently higher). "Making jokes about you has been good for ratings," he continued. "It's almost as if the majority of Americans didn't want you to be president. But you know who's got really bad ratings these days? You do. Terrible approval numbers. I hear they're thinking about switching your time slot with Mike Pence."

In the other part of his monologue, Colbert got into Trump firing James Comey and all the various contradicting reports about why: "The White House staff kept repeating that the decision came after the recommendation from [Deputy Attorney General Rod] Rosenstein. And today, Donald Trump backed those staffers up, then ran over them repeatedly by changing his story."
