This Visualization Of All NYC Cab & Bus Rides In One Day Is Surprisingly Soothing

The words "bus" and "soothing" rarely belong in the same sentence, but this map visualizing a full day's worth of bus and taxi trips in the city is a welcome exception. Behold:

Creator Will Geary combined data from the Taxi and Limousine Commission and the MTA to make this palliative little shroom trip, documenting all the yellow and green cabs and buses that took to the streets on January 5th, 2015 (Geary tells us he picked that date because it was the first Monday of 2015, among other reasons). As you can see, Manhattan is crawling with cabs at all hours and there are a smattering in North Brooklyn and Western Queens, but the Bronx and South Brooklyn look pretty lonely. The airports are not.
