See Todd Webb's Historic NYC Photos At A Special Event For Gothamist Readers

Former LIFE magazine editor-in-chief Bill Shapiro will offer tours and talks at the Todd Webb exhibit in Chelsea this weekend.
Last month we previewed the work of photographer Todd Webb prior to the opening of two exhibits highlighting his images of 1940s NYC. "Webb's photographs of Post-War New York captured the city's iconic sites as well as its small, fleeting dramas," former LIFE magazine editor-in-chief Bill Shapiro says, and this weekend you can hear more insights from him.
The exhibit Shapiro curated in Chelsea, at the Curator Gallery, will welcome Gothamist readers for special tours this coming Saturday, May 6th. Shapiro will personally guide intimate tours of the gallery and talk about Webb's work, discussing, among other things, why Webb is the best NYC street photographer you've never heard of, the role his famous friends (like Georgia O'Keeffe) played in his art, and his secrets for capturing the heart of the city.
