Photos: Adorable Kitties Attend First-Ever 'Cat Camp' In Chelsea

"These are my people," beamed a woman who had travelled all the way from Pittsburgh to attend the first annual Cat Camp this weekend in Chelsea.

She was not alone in her sentiment, as hundreds of cat fanciers paid as much as $70 a ticket on Sunday to mingle with their tribe, browse at dozens of feline-related vendors and, most importantly, show a whole lot of love for the cats in cages hoping to get adopted. Fur-ever home success rates were high for the weekend, said a woman from Kitty Kind, with many special-needs kitties especially finding new humans.

There were celebrities on hand as well, including Jackson Galaxy (the Cat Daddy who helps cats "find their mojo"); Lil Bub (a very cute dwarfish cat); and Mac (also a cat, and also very cute). Panels and discussions on topics such as "Heartwarming Tales of Cat Rescue", hosted by Robin Olson of the Covered In Cat Hair blog, rounded out the official programming.

Most of the vendors at Cat Camp sold clever, punny t-shirts and totes (several with anti-Trump "pussy hat" designs), or straight-up cat toys and furniture, but there were a couple of more unusual offerings in the mix. Apollo Peak Pet Wines company, for instance, brews cat beverages made from "100% whole organic beets," and Nine Lives Twine is an outfit that handcrafts "meowmorials", among other items, from your cat's hair.

There was a stellar collection of people-treats available, from Dun-Well Donuts, La Newyorkina, and Macaron Parlour, who put kitty faces on their namesake goodies. The baker at the latter, Christina Ha, is also the co-owner of Meow Parlour on Hester Street, and the founder of Cat Camp.
