The Grammy Awards will return to New York City for the first time in 15 years, Mayor de Blasio officially announced on Tuesday morning, alongside executives from Madison Square Garden, CBS and the Recording Academy.
"We welcome the Grammy Awards back to New York City with open arms," the mayor said, confirming longstanding rumors. "We look forward to continuing to partner with a music industry that supports access and empowerment in the arts."
As expected, the 2018 ceremony will be held at Madison Square Garden, though the Post reports that Barclays Center did make a push in February to grab the 60th anniversary of the awards show. Earlier Tuesday morning, MSG's social accounts shared a Spike Lee-directed video, featuring musicians such as Joan Jett, Q-Tip and Grandmaster Flash paying tribute to the city's musical history outside of the Apollo Theatre, the Hotel Chelsea, and Carnegie Hall.

"I'm honored to be a part of this homage to the city I love, that is welcoming the 60th anniversary of the Grammys into its big warm arms," Lee said in a statement.
The last time the Grammy's were held at MSG was in 2003, and featured Norah Jones narrowly beating out Avril Lavigne and John Mayor for Best New Artist. Here's Robin Williams introducing the crowd-pleasing Bruce Springsteen set that closed out the evening.
