Celebrities Like Alec Baldwin, Amy Poehler, & Tina Fey Will Take Part In Facebook Live Telethon For ACLU

Celebrities tried and failed to prevent Donald Trump from winning the election, but that won't keep them from trying to stop him from violating Americans' Constitutional rights. On Friday, March 31st, a slew of stars—including Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, and Amy Poehler—will take part in a telethon of sorts on Facebook Live to benefit the ACLU.

The telethon, which will kick off at 7 p.m., is dubbed "Stand for Rights: A Benefit for the ACLU," and is being executive produced by Friend of a Friend Productions in collaboration with Funny or Die. According to the event's Facebook page, the event "promises to be a historic event marking the first time in history people have something productive to do on Facebook on a Friday night," not that deep-stalking your ex's new fiancee isn't productive.

"In these tumultuous times, we need our favorite actors, musicians, and comedians to do what they do best," the event's page reads. "Speak earnestly about politics? No! Entertain you for a great cause? Yes! Because when the Titanic sank, the band kept playing! Except in this case, the band will be raising money for something that can fix the boat. And Leonardo DiCaprio won’t have to die." (Note that, in fact, if Rose and Jack had been better at science, Leonardo DiCaprio wouldn't have had to die in the first place.)

Other participating celebrities include Jon Hamm, Padma Lakshmi, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, Uzo Aduba, Josh Charles, Zosia Mamet, Ike Barinholtz and former Bosom Buddies cast member Tom Hanks.
